Why no flourescent colour gear to buy?
Discussion
Considering that it is safer to ride with bright coloured clothes/helmet, I've always wondered why manufacturers don't produce riding gear with flourescent colours on their designs?
Dayglo yellow seems to be quite a popular colour in racing for helmet designs and race suits, is there a reason for manufactuers not offering this - not sure if it would fade in time as being a reason why.

Can't quote from any specific research but I know when I'm driving a car, I do notice bikers with brighter colours than anyone donning the all black Ghostrider scheme. Also never had anyone cutting me up when a rode my 125 with a flouro bib so that must work. Obviously I would look a bit silly donning a bib on my Gixxer..
So based on your comments, the likes of Rossi with his dayglo colours make him look like a proper uber knob then

I think a lot of it comes down to the fact that people who dont see vehicles higher than them, with headlights on arent going to see people on the same vehicles with dayglo green leathers on. Quite accept the thing about the bib, or Sam Browne being more likely to attract attention that black/black/black colour schemes, which explains the indiscriminate use of white on most leathers. The swines Whatever floats your boat, in the end. If you really want to be visible, buy a Ninja and matching leathers. Dont get much brighter than that

Compare and contrast his current kit with the Excalibur test outfit a couple of years back. Yup, he looks like (he likes) a knob in comparison. Allegedly amare32 said:

Being seen is much more about how you ride, where you position yourself on the road and your anticipation of potential hazards. Spend your money on advanced road training and you will get a much better 'safety return' for you pennies. amare32 said:

mug a bike cop......
They are an endangered species now, aren't they? Our on the road Police presence ditched for cameras everywhere - no wonder driving standards are so poor.Oh yes, back on topic, Teknic (popular over the pond, available here) do some leathers with hi-viz sections.

Back in the late '80s and early '90s the whole dayglo colour thing was all the rage, but biking gear seems to be very much a fashion driven thing.
I'm glad the market went away from this sort of thing when Fieldsheer (sp?) was creating retina burners like the pink acid worm suit.
I work on the theory that race pipes are the way to go, if people can hear me then it's better than dayglo as it means they are activley looking out for you.
I think most people have dressed like a colour blind power ranger on a sports bike at some point in their life, it's just one of those things people would rather forget.

Hmmm.. I wonder if there is an illustrative picture that someone would care to link to? I'm glad the market went away from this sort of thing when Fieldsheer (sp?) was creating retina burners like the pink acid worm suit.

Hmmm.. I wonder if there is an illustrative picture that someone would care to link to? If i was a courier or regularly riding in a city , I would definitely don a fluo jacket , it does make a huge difference to who sees you .
We had been marshalling at an event t'up north , and we were frozen so kept the fluo bibs on for the journey home .
Never had such an easy ride through the traffic , Might be that we were 2 blue bikes at quite high speed with headlamps on , the traffic just parted for us .
