Ive got a printer at home, it is a tally genicom 8108n. For some reason, one day it will print fine and the next day it wont print at all, it doesnt respond when a document is sent to print.Im led to believe it is something to do with the ports and it being knocked off its port if it switched off at a bad time etc. Does anyone have any help suggestions. Would be extremely appreciated.

cheers

Are you connecting via USB or over the network?
If it's USB then the port is highly unlikely to be changing day to day.
If you're using the network, the printer will probably be set by default to have a dynamic IP address (DHCP). Depending on how your network is set up, DHCP could well give your printer a new IP address every time you turn it on, which would cause major issues with your computer trying to print to it. To get around this, set the printer to have a static IP address, on an address that is not going to be given out through DHCP.
