What do I do about my unresponive dealer? I had a 335d delivered in early March. There were a few really minor delivery problems (USB cable was broken, service book said 335i instead of 335d, the invoice showed me instead of my company, and they hadn't sent me a cheque for £1800 as agreed.)

I've written to them twice by email, and now once by post. I haven't heard a peep out of them. I am sending off a final letter now by recorded mail, and then if no reply it goes to the solicitors.

I can't believe it has got this far in the first place, I must say I'm disappointed in the service on a £44k purchase.

This is mainly a grumble, needed to get it off my chest. smile

Have you tried contacting BMW GB?

No, I haven't tried contacting BMW GB yet. I will carbon copy my final letter to the dealer to BMW GB to see if that has any effect.

Have spoken to the dealer principle a few minutes ago. Letter is already in the post to BMW GB.

The DP seemed completely unaware of the situation and I got the impression he will do something. We'll see what happens....

He will do something whether he wants to or not as with your letter going to BMW UK as well the st'll hit the fan. Probably cost either an individual or the dealership £'s.

Could I be the first to formally welcome you to the fold of the average BMW franchise.

Welcome, now get your wallet out and bend over while you're at it hehe

Don't count on it. I once complained to BMW GB about something and they simply forwarded my complaint to the same tosser that had been dealing, totally inadequately, with the issue that I had, so that he could write to me to dispense the same list of inadequate excuses that I'd already had from him via e-mail.

Totally agree BMW UK are useless! I once brought an approved used vehicle, advertised with 1 previous owner. To cut a long story short, V5 came back from the DVLA some weeks later with 2 previous owners! I had it out with the sales person, sales manager then the dealer principle - they didn't want to know!

Contacted BMW UK, they didn't want to know either... I was stunned! I couldn't understand why BMW UK wouldn't want to know if any of their main dealers were mis-representing used vehicles. I threatened legal action, it was only when my solicitor got involved they did something about it. I have gone a little off-topic, but I guess what I am saying is get a solicitor involved, few letters from them and a couple of phone calls and I am sure they will start to listen.

Grrr - it gives me the rage just thinking about it! I wish there was a name and shame policy in this forum sometimes!

The DP did seem genuinely concerned about getting it sorted; I didn't mention BMW GB to him at all. He says it will all be resolved by the end of the week... I will update then to let you all know.

He will get it sorted as his dealer bonus could be affected, and his pay. When BMW UK call you to ask how things are going you will get another chance to get people in to trouble and have their bonus/pay docked.

I understand where your coming from but it could have been an innocent mistake and your probably wanting someones head for it. If you went to BMW UK with it they probably thought you were being petty.

I don't think that is petty, if I buy an orange I want orange not an apple, in the same way if I buy a one owner car, then it needs to be a one owner car, not two. .......and the law says the same.

So it's not just someone being petty is it.

The vehicle in question was only 14 months old, so I think an extra owner makes all the difference when it's covered just 15,000 miles! I have a friend that works at a BMW main dealer and he said they would offer £500-1000 less on a trade-in.

Either way they advertised it with 1 previous owner and when I parted with my cash that's what I thought I was buying, so petty or not I was mis-led.

What's worse is the dealer knew full well as the ownership had transfered as they had sold it in priciple some 2-3 weeks before. A finance agreement fell through and someone sent the V5 off, so they were blatently hoping would either not notice or not make a fuss.

It was resolved, eventually when after threatening legal aciton the dealer in question pulled their finger out wrote to the DVLA and had the owner removed. Not the sort of behavour you expect from a main dealer IMO.

OK it you were justified then, it sounded initially like a mistake. I'm quite suprised at your experience. How long ago was this?

This year, in fact I have only just resolved the issue. It was made worse by the DP who was dealing with the problem resigned, it soon became clear he knew he was leaving as he had not actioned anything at all.

Sorted the quoting a bit better.

Sounds like a st situation you had there chap. The DP obviously had no commitment to the dealership res ulting in your bad experience. yours was probably part of a long line of problems the DP couldn't or wouldn't sort out.

I had to do a BMW exam to be in a position for both BMW & my dealer group to employ me, years ago. Now they'll employ almost anyone in my eyes some for just being pretty. Needless to say staff turn over has gone through the roof in recent years, certainly within my group.
