Just wondering who fellow relatively-young-Chimaera-owners go to for their insurance?

It's renewal time for me & the best I've got so far is just over 1000 quid from both Tesco & Direct Line. I'm 26, doing about 15K miles a year with 6yrs NCB. Wouldn't mind getting it a bit lower but my brain can't think who to phone & I don't want to call every company in the world!

Cheers

Do a search for insurance companies on here, A. Manning ans Sunninghill are the usual suspects but I would say it's the mileage not your age thats putting the quotes up

cheers guys.
you'd have thought those nice insurance people would like people doing more miles to get more experience and be better drivers.... or something.

£1k sounds about right. I had mine at 26 (with 8 yrs ncd) and I paid about £1k. And that was 3 yrs ago, and everone says how insurance has risen in the past few years (doesn't it all ways..!)

Worth trying NU Direct.

My premium was around £900 and I am 27. They don't allow ANY engine mods though so I recently changed to Tesco who will.

For the record, Sunninghill quoted £1,500 and to their credit suggested Tescos!

£ 1,000 is probably about as good as it is going to get beacuse I am with A Mannings who were the best for me and I was 28 at last renewal doing 12K miles/ year with 6 years protected no claims and I paid about a grand.

Have fun but drive carefully though beacuse I was pirouetting on the ice back in Feb an had to make a claim. Renewal: £1,800 even with protected no claims. The protection just guarantees you don't lose your NCB. It doesn't protect you from them putting up the premium. You just get the same discount but off a higher premium.

Outrageous - depends a lot on where you live, where you keep the car, and whether or not it's your only car. My renewal quote from Sunninghill was £2200, up a grand from last year, so went to admiral for £1100. 30 yrs old, 6 years NCB, but in central london with car ungaraged.. after the event checked elephant which was even cheaper, strange as it's the sister company of admiral.

I have it listed as my third car, so not my only car, plus I live in the middle of no-where in Herefordshire, plus I am married (which oddly seems to put premiums down), so it all helps.. I think I just fit their profiles quite well. Oh and it is a 10 year old Chimaera too..
