I have recently reconditioned my 320d 204d4 diesel engine and now my fault light is staying on.
The code reader says low fuel pressure to the fuel rail. I assume that means the common rail but I can not sort the problem.
I’ve done the obvious (Checked all connections, changed the fuel filter) but I am now stuck so any ideas would be great.
My local BMW garage have told it will be £45 to tell what the fault is even though I know that but they have told me they will have to do that first.

thanks Phil.

Ge them to diagnose it, well worth 40 quid. Then go around checking prices of differenrt garages to fix the issue BMW found!

Hi

I have a fault code reader so know what the fault is.

I don't see why I should pay them £40 to tell me what I already know.
The fault code is P0192.

Thanks Phil.

There's a full list of codes here but then you already know what it means.

Presumably it's a problem with the pump or whatever regulates the fuel pressure. I would take it to a dealer personally, life's too short wink

That site says "Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit Low Input" so perhaps it is just a sensor failure or wiring fault.

There are 2 sensors on the rail, do you know if it is the front one or the back one.
