I went down to Hideout Leathers on Monday and had a bit of a spend up!!! I bought a Furygan Brutale jacket and a pair of Furygan Lead trousers, which can zip to the jacket.

The service from the ladies at Hideout was excellent and the Furygan stuff seems well made, heavy duty and stylish without being too garish.I am 48 this year and new to biking so I don't want to look too much like a racer.

I haven't got the gear yet as Hideout are altering the leg and sleve lengths to fit me. I tried on a lot of different gloves but if the palm width fitted, the fingers were always too long so I ended up ordering a pair of made to measure Held Phantom's coloured to match the Furygan outfit.

Has anybody got the same gear and if so, how have you got on with it?? I hope I have made the right choices.

Did you just buy an 08 blade as well?

He he, the phrase `All the gear....` springs to mind!

Seriously, have fun but take it easy. I can see you'll be used to travelling quick but go careful on the Blade!

Can't comment of the leathers I'm afraid...but, new gear AND a new blade...Lovely.

Looked at your profile, lovely, lovely motor.... be interesting what you think of the performance of the blade!!!!
Can I ask, why now? What made you think of getting your leg over a nice new blade??!!

Cheers.

Always had fast cars and even hold a race license but have never had a bike. My parents talked me out of biking when I was young. Probably a good thing!!! But I am getting long in the tooth now and feel I would always regret it if I didn't have a bike befor I got too old, boring and fat!

I am fully aware of how dangerous bikes can be but I am of an age and mindset that dictates that I will be sensible on the Blade and drive her like a girl until I have had some proper training.

I did a lot of reading and took quite a bit of advice from experienced bikers of my aquaintance. It was decided that rather than buy an old 600 or something and then loose money trading it in after a few months, I may as well get what I really fancied and just go carefully!

I will have no issues with the power and acceleration but will have to learn to handle her before I can open her up.

I live on the Shropshire / Wales border and so have some lovely roads to ride on and I am looking forward to the special camerardarie that only seems to be found amongst bikers.

I feel very naughty buying all this shiny new kit but compared to what I have spent on cars over the years, the whole biking thing is incredibly reasonable.

I have no wish to look like a tosser and will start my biking career very humbly I hope. So yes...all the gear, because I am excited and enthusiastic and no idea because I have much to learn, which also excites me.

Having read some of the postings on here, it would appear that I am about to enter a whole new world and look forward to making some new friends as well.

Hi Atom. I've got the Furygan Brutale jacket which I wear whilst on my 848. A great jacket, fits well and looks rather good I think. I tend to wear with my alpinestars bottoms and leave my alpinestars jacket (with the hump!) at home. I think you'll be pleased and the jacket and the blade. A mates just bought the 08 blade and he loves it!

Look forward to hearing what you think about it all once you get the Blade. I always like to hear what people who have had fast cars think about biking as I found the two very very different. Love them both in different ways I think.

Agreed!! I've had Porsche's and TVR's but nothing prepares you for the sheer speed and exhilaration of a bike in full scream!! When I first took my CBR 600RR beyond 10,000 revs I thought I was going to break the sound barrier and go into orbit!! As for 14,000 rpm, my god!!
The blade will be a different level again.
I've been riding a year, on my third bike, Monster 695, CR 600RR and now a Ducati 848 but still very much a novice and they're to be treated with the utmost respect!!!

I would still class myself as all the gear and with 'little' if no idea!! Can't see me going back to a Sports car now though ;-)

Once I've got the Blade on the road and had a little go, I will let you all know how I'm getting on !!!

I have little doubt it will be an eye opener!!! Can't wait. It's a white one by the way!

White is the colour to have IMO. That's the colour of me mates and it looks fab. Almost as good as my red Ducati!!!

I walked into the local Honda dealership and just saw her there in gleaming white. It was love at first sight!!

They have Blades in the other colours as well and they also look good but the white does stand out as being classy and different. The front cowl is black and makes the nose look like a killer whale!

The dealer told me that white is a limited production paint scheme and that whilst there are still a few left in some Honda dealerships, those that have got them are not prepared to pass them to other Honda dealers who want them.

I have asked that all the tasty R&G protection bits are fitted before I pick her up, including a rad guard and a tail tidy!!!

Atom - I also just bought a Furygan jacket (master).. all black as I also hate the multi colour shell suite colours..

You will love the freedom of biking and easy of overtaking.

Just be careful on crossing the 'hump' or dips that are often along the centre of the road.. blades can shake their heads at the best of times.. so don't be too forceful in the lane change.
