Yesterday I had a virus alert and my screens went blue with a warning (although the toolbars and icons were still there and worked).

I was still using AVG 7.5 so reckoned this was a good time to install 8.0, so I unplugged the router, uninstalled 7.5 and installed 8.0. Then I ran a full scan and it found about 8 references to a virus called Swizzor.

The machine appears to be back to normal and I reset the wallpaper, but on start-up I still get blue on both screens. Call me dumb but in Display I can't see where to set the wallpaper! Instead I found an image and right-clicked 'set as desktop background'. Does that do it differently? Or should I still be worried about the blue background? I foudn this about Swizzor http://www.wiki-security.com/wiki/Parasite/Swizzor but would prefer not to do any deeper delving without advice!

Buried in replies I see, but all fixed now with the aid of some software and a very clever friend smile

There's another virus doing the rounds at the moment called XP 2008 or somethng, does the same thing. IIRC AVG doesn't pick it up, or wasn't doing last week anyway. It was recently in a bulk mailing about a UPS parcel that everyone in the known universe appears to have received. Have you got the wallpaper chooser bit back now?
