ok, I start my DAS on Monday, but I just wanted to see what everyones opinion on this scenario:

I have been training for the old style test..... fail my practical test......... cannot get a re-test until after 29th Sept therefore the new style test is in operation.

What woud your opinion be in this situation?? fork out MORE of my hard earned cash to get up to speed to pass the new style test or would they have this kind of situation covered and allow a bit of a cross-over on the tests?

The reason I ask is that I loathe to pay out more money to pass a test that (lets face it) is harder than a test (old style) I have been training for and if I had passed I would be deemed fit to ride on the open road. (does that make sense hmmmm....)

Argh!!!! nuts

I know what your all going to say...... "make sure you pass your test before the change" etc etc. This is obviously my intention, however theres no harm in preparing for the worse smile

To be honest, the new test obviously has that off road bit, but if your compitent in riding a bike it's really not going to be that much more difficult, its only a few slaloms, stops etc.

In theory yes, however you would still have to hase some training for it, as we all know when learnig to ride/ drive you learn to pass the test, the real learning begins when your on your own.

Find another test centre where you can retest if necessary before the new test comes in. It'll be worth travelling if need be to do it! New test sounds like a PITA if you have been learning for the old style test.

My point exactly, i have payed for a full DAS 5 day course and if I were to (god forbid) fail then i would essentially have to start all over again (bit of an exageration bit having a sh!t time at work and thinking about failing and not getting a restest in time is not helping!) haha

I need cheering up someone tell me a good joke???? I'll start I heard it on the radio the other day and i love it......

Did you hear about the man with 5 willies???.................... His pants fit like a glove!!!

badum tsshhhh!!!

Any way back to the OP haha tongue out

To be honest i'd be terrified if your instructor is teaching you car-style to just eek through the test. If they're teaching you to be a competent rider then you'll have no problem with the new test as it'll just be asking you to demonstrate what you can already do, but in a different way.

I dont know yet I have only done my CBT (U-turns were a royal PITA but managed after a few attempts) but its not what I cant do its just what I have been trained to do, but like everyone says I assume if I have been trained to ride competantly I should breeze through smile

Do the old style and be honest with yourself about the amount of days you need.

I was going to do three , but 4 was a lot better option.

Exactly. Everything i've read says that the new test is just like the old one but with an added CBT style off-road bit first; and at less test centres.

Do you know where I can find a list of test centres, would be an interesting read
