Hi All,

In a few months time we will have a stand at a conference and are trying to come up with freebies to give away to visitors on our stand.

There is the usual branded stressball, pens, bottle openers etc but I would really like to do something a bit more original and "different".

Any ideas would be gratefully received, if it's any help, theme of the conference is IT security.

Cheers

Alex

Was at one last year where they gave a meat themometer! Very relevant to the credit card and payment industries obviously. I guess it worked becuase its still mentioned almost a year on as no-one can figure out why they choose such a useless, pointless bit of tat.

Incidently, if anyone is in the market for a meat thermometer...

Amsterdam... nothing too hardcore??? wink

I quite like being given the USB flash memory sticks, you could put some software on there, most put a video, with company branding / website on them - then they get noticed wherever they get used. You could look at the Secure ones? Or put secure / encryption software on them? Dull I know, but people will take them and use them / give to relations/kids etc..

Have a magician break out of a strait jacket or something, or have someone struggling in a jacket and say your networks are as secure or more secure than this.

Company I had dealings with used lumps of that smelly soapy bathy stuff 'Lush' sell. Lush did them some special wrapped small bits, the size of a large marble.

Their stand was awash with girlies within 10 minutes.

Whatever you do, don't make it junk/rubbish, otherwise it will only end up in the bin within about 1/2 hour...

Hand-cuffs to highlight the security link? I think Anne Summers do the fluffy pink ones (no idea personally of course!)

Trying to think of novel ideas for give-aways isn't easy. We've all been to loads of different shows, and been given hundreds of different "gifts" no doubt. Surely there can't be that many new ideas out there?

A couple of local lads here have got one of these bluetooth transmitter things that seems to work well at conferences.

The website is www.ad-pods.com

Exhibitors use it to draw people towards their stands for special offers or giveaways etc. I'm thinking about trying the mobile unit to advertise cars and draw people to my website. As well as buying it outright, they're about to offer a rental service, so i may try that first to see how well it works.

Good luck with the show

Is the idea to get people to your stall or for them to remember you afterwards? If it's the former, how about doing a prize draw for a netbook like an Eee? If it's the latter, there could be some kind of 'business card raffle ticket' that you tell them they must retain to claim the prize.
