Dodge Breitling as they're IMO overpriced for what they are. For pilot-style chronos at that price point you'll get a lovely Sinn... if it has to be new then that's where my money would go...

Speedmaster, Seamaster or Carrera would be fairly obvious choices.

I haven't owned a Carrera but I've had the others. Perhaps I got a duff watch but the Seamaster chrono I owned briefly (before chopping it in for a 2000 Schumi Speedmaster) kept appalling, appalling time. Really unreliable. It's also a big watch (though that's the norm these days). I know several people with non-chrono Seamasters and they are tough, reliable tool watches smile

How about a Rolex Datejust in steel? It's a 36mm diameter, which by todays standards is considered midsize. For your budget you should get a late model 16200/16220 in mint condition with the correct box and accompanying paperwork.......These are bullet proof and with a service every 5 years will last longer than you..;)

My 2 cents..

My seamaster keeps perfect time!
Because it's a quartz boxedin

You can get the non-chrono seamaster in mid size, and there's reduced speedie if you want something a bit smaller...

Quinny - Lovely watch you have there. Very lucky boy.

It appears in my opinon that Dominic H is offering some sound advice. That's a lovely watch at that price point.

I paid around your budget for this second hand from www.watches.co.uk and providing you never need to use the service department, it's a thing of beauty!

ETA: For clarification I meant Tag's service department sucks rather than the one at watches.co.uk which was perfect

Not living in the UK, I'm a bit nervous about buying anything high-value from ebay but that's a superb-looking watch. I think those photos don't do it justice - it's even nicer in the metal.

Edited to add I'd also be slightly nervous of the fact that the Bill of Sale referred to by the vendor is actually a returns slip, not a receipt. There may of course be a good explanation for this, however.
