MK2 golf heater question
Discussion
Bah, going out of my mind now.
I've got no heat in my car, have replaced the bypass valves with new units from VAG, replaced the heater matrix, system has been vacumed to ensure no air locks, expansion tank replaced becasue was losing a *little* preasure there. The hose going in to the matrix seems very hot, the return pipe seems slightly cooler.
Still no heat in the car, and I mean none, ever.
What else can there be to fix / replace? any advice would be seriously appreciated as winter's closing in and I'm really not looking forward to scraping ice off the inside again.

Have you checked the by-pass valve that was fitted as part of the 1990 recall?
Other than that, on what you say, I agree with Dr G - it's the likely to be the flap controls from the slider thing - does it seem to free wheel when you move it? Not hard to fix, just need to get behind the dash.

Edited by J-Skid - because there's no such this as a "by-ass" valve hopefully...

Thanks for the replies chaps,
I replaced the bypass valves some time ago in the hope that this was the problem. Is it possible that these could have become blocked / locked in the bypass position? I'm not sure it's the flaps, as I have no heat in the car at all but I'll check again.
I never had an issue with the bypass valve, but if you've changed or drained the system then it could be. But on the basis of what you are saying, I'd put money on the heater control flap.I replaced the bypass valves some time ago in the hope that this was the problem.
