same as an s-line 2.0T special edition quattro (230 bhp) but with a different set of bumpers and dtm 18" wheels instead of 18" 5 spokes etc.

except that you can get the s-line in a decent range of colours and i think the dtm is only in blue.

personally i dont like the dtm edition as the bumper kit looks a bit cack (IMO), however the 230 bhp 2.0T quattro is a fine car.

Bespoke suspension setup, bigger brakes, carbon trim, reccaro seats, carbon boot/chin spoiler and interior trim. Oh and that cack bodykit.

Also available in silver, black and iirc red

pretty sure(having owned the special edition 2.0T and test driven a DTM)that the drilled brakes and calipers - that are fitted to the special edition, are common to both cars, the recaro seats are also the same but are half alcantara and half leather

The rest of the carbon placky tat is for the DTM

I accept that you may be able to get them in another colour than blue (but thats the only colour I've ever seen them in) and having looked through the net that:-

"The DTM uses the A4's S line sports suspension pack, but it features unique spring and damper settings"

It still essentially the same car, bar the stiffer ride (the normal s-line set up was perfectly alright) and dtm body kit.

Nothing against either car, although i def. preffered the more subtle s-line - and I never thought the DTM wheels suited it.

I know the brakes and seats (and engine tune/mapping) were only available originally in the DTM. Audi may have rolled them out in the SE models afterwards, as the DTM was, in the main, a showcase for the SE (engine at least). Im pretty sure the suspension setting is bespoke to the DTM and the SE had/has the regular S-Line suspension?

I take it you mean SE as Special Edition and not an a4 se (which is the comfort model)

Correct.

Suspension is stock S-line as quoted from the press release along with 100mm exhaust tips.

Brakes are the same size as the normal 2.0T just drilled disks instead of non drilled.

Also engine was 220hp not 230.

Press release linky http://fourtitude.rely.net/cgi-bin/artman/exec/vie...

nope, suspension is not stock it may be s-line but it has revised spring and damper settings - this makes a difference.

The brakes may be the same size but IIRC the calipers are different on the 2.0T special edition, they looked different (more meaty!)when I compared against a standard 2.0T - i did a sife by side comparison of a standard 2.0T, 2.OT special, and 2.0T DTM before choosing a 2.0T special quattro

Also, The exhaust tips on the 2.0T special edition were black, to differentiate them from the standard 2.0T chromed - diameter of the exhaust outlets may have been different, dont know.

Accept your point on the power output, maybe it felt like it had released another 10bhp after the 55,000 miles of heavy running in (in 14 months of ownership!)driving

Its a while since I owned and drove my old 2.0T special- I have something slightly more powerful now. biggrin

The calipers are NOT different, they are identical to the standard 2.0T. All B7 2.0T and 3.2's have the same caliper as the S4 they just run a slightly smaller disk. Audi's press release quite clearly states its S-line suspension.

oooh oooh pedant, I like it, you'll be great fun!

you might be right about the calipers, like i said they "looked" different but it was a long time ago so perhaps my memory is failing at last...

Question how can it be s-line suspension if its got revised dampers and springs :-

"The DTM uses the A4's S line sports suspension pack, but it features unique spring and damper settings"

shirley this makes it specific to the dtm??????

Whats so bloody special about having s-line suspension anyway, spring and dampers again?, thicker anti roll bar?- its only tweakage if you think of it that way (hardly a proper set up with soilovers and seperate resevoirs).

I would expect the dtm suspension to share the same leg, wishbone and antiroll bar as the s-line thats all.

The spring and damper settings will make a big difference to how it rides so you cant really say they are the same.

question is AM I BOVVERRD!
