I thought my 120d was supposed to have heated screen washer jets, which are on as long as the engine is running, but with the current cold snap the washers have remained frozen even after a journey of over 40 minutes. Of course it's possible that the washer fluid is not concentrated enough, but aside from that do other owners find that the heated jets work or not?

I think mine are meant to be heated but they froze this morning when the temp read -7deg C. The concentration is obviously too low if it's freezing in the first place but I wonder if only the head of the washer is heatedso other fluid in the system is frozen solid and still blocks it?

Absolutely right - and check that the pipes haven't been forced off the jets if you've tried to use them, as happens with my E39.

Must admit I've had the same problem, yet the 335d seems OK. Both are running similar washer fluid concentrations as well. Puzzling? The jets are obviously heated as the ice melts around them on the bonnet so I guess it must be to do with the pipework routing being different on the two cars.

As I understand it, the heated washer jets are only active when you turn on the heated rear screen, as are the heated mirrors.

Although my wifes 1 Series remained frozen even with the heated rear screen on, and a good concentration of screen wash. Although It was -9.

Out of interest, does the 1 series have one washer bottle or two? Compacts have a seperate one for the rear wide you've got to fill view the tailgate.

As far as I know it has only one.

I had already checked that in the owners handbook which says they are heated whenever the engine is running.

Having now looked at the thread here http://www.babybmw.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&am... I can see that most owners have found the heated jets to be ineffective.

Thanks for the pointer Flat6.
