m4a to mp3

Hi new to this forum and have a quick question I'm sure someone can help with;

I want a way of converting my mpeg 4 file (default Itunes import) to MP3s can anyone reccomend a good (preferably free) piece of software for this?

Thanks for the advice. I did google it myself, but didn't recognise any of the applications that came up. SO rather than run an unknown program on my PC I thought I'd ask for some advice.
I'll take another look at itunes as well, but when I looked originally I got the impression you had to import the tracks as MP3's there didn't look like there was a way of converting existing tracks.
