Whilst out for a little jolly in the old girl this afternoon (a '98 4.0 Chim) I noticed something rather unusual, unexpected and frankly quite pleasing. I was tootling around London, as one does in the traffic, and noticed that the engine was generally behaving itself at around 85C. 'No problems there then' thinks I, 'got a little more heat to play with to fart around on the loud pedal before I have to calm things down a little'. Now this is where things started to get a little odd. I found that as I gave it some stick and er....... caned it (I think that's the technical phrase) along various highways and byways, the engine was running cooler.... Hmmmmm.... going down Regent Street in 1st at 5,000 rpm and it's loving every minute of it! Perhaps the old bugger's even more of a flash git than I thought! Actually enjoying all those rpm at relatively low speeds! Maybe I'll have to do it a bit more often, especially as I'm getting the exhausts fettled at Austec next weekend. Can't wait!!

It's the cold air coming in through the front wot does it. Try it again next summer when it's 90 in the shade and you'll get a different story!
