Hi to all you fellow pistonheads, I've been on the forum browsing for years and only just joined and thought I'd show you my Swift!

I bought my Swift GTi back in 2001, looked long and hard to find one with low miles/owners,

and in a rare blue!

To say the least she was a little bargain, well worth the £60 fine and 3points aquired on the

way up there!

Here is what she was like before i started to play!

Had a base dyno done to make sure that engine was healthy and producing simluar factory

figures, slightly higher than expected, but i did have a filter and exhaust!

A Mighty 110bhp!

The quest for power took ahold, so i added a port polished head, more aggressive cams, larger throttle bodie, had it re-mapped with a unichip, and it produced around 145bhp!

The bodywork was treated to a re-spray, added some factory splitters, which gave it a nice

look without the chavvy image!

So had fun with it for a year or so, met a couple of guys who had a turboed gti and another

who had a supercharged one! I Like the idea of a supercharger as this was the only one ever

to be done!! Turbo kits for the swifts are cheap, nasty and very common!

I took the SC route which was the more expensive and difficult! :snooty:

One of these was purchased, rotrex supercharger!

After what seemed a long time it finaly went to the dyno, made 190bhp at 6psi, then dropped a valve!!!!!!

This was 2days before i was due to go to the 'ring' so after a failed attempt of fitting a new

head i was forced to take a hire car!

I bought a stty scrap engine and whacked it in for the time being, and planned to re-build

mine with a better spec!

Had a good year or so running with the old engine, then the sc st itself on the M40, an oil

hose split and so ceased the sc beyound repair........ouch!

Off it went and so spent its time outside for the next 2years! Got bored in the mean

time and owned a A3 turbo, which bored me! Then got an S2000, what an awesome car that is! Had to change car as i needed something more practicle, so got a Civic type R, very good car and allrounder!

The swift had been worked on now and again, engine was re-built with forged pistons, gearbox

had a longer 5th put in aswell as having a LSD. Coilovers were fitted with all polybushes

replacing the standard ones.

And also some brakes!

Had to then purchase the most expensive item, another Rotrex SC! So why not going a tad bigger?

Standalone management was the way forward, omex 710 was my choice, and the next task was to make the loom!

A Triggerwheel was also needed!

Aeroquip was also an idea, so that the same fate would never happen to the new charger!

Added a set of aerocatch fittings, nice set of Volks racing alloys (weigh 4.5kgs) wrapped in toyo R888s

Had the car picked up and tuned in essex, had a couple of problems like ya do, only running 8psi but it made 162bhp at the wheels, so probably just shy of 200bhp at the fly!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSdCpMFdCDY

Still not running 100%, got an idle descrepancy! But she goes well and will go alot better once i fit a smaller pulley and have more boost!

It 'should' have around 200bhp at the wheels at or under 1bar, this is all i want, even tho the charger can boost up to 1.7!!

Future plans are to finish stripping interior, so to make way for the roll cage, seats/harnesses and have some much needed fun!

So thats about it so far! Just had exhuast remade by simpson race exhaust, all i can say its a work of art!

Really gagging to get back out on track and embarrass a few cars, hopefully might make it out to the ring!

Anyways hope you enjoyed my swift story!

Cheers
Joe

Very cool, especially when looking so subtle. I want to supercharge my '07 Swift Sport, but I can't afford it (yet).

Thanks for all your comments, always nice to hear other people appreciating something different! Yeah the car does do well, and to be honest doesn't need much more power, but as you do, you get greedy!

Love doing trackdays, and have been a regular at Bedford Aerodome, will try and get around castle combe this year, also this where i've had most of the car worked on!

I will keep this thread updated and show you some progress as and when, In the next few weeks i'm going to fit a smaller charger pulley to run more boost, and have this re-mapped. Also going to finish stripping the interior, fit my buckets/harness and have a rollcage installed!

Hopefully for now that will be it, just be nice to go out and enjoy it!

What a stty awful little car.

But you've made it look, and more importantly, go, so well.

Nice work.

Yes most of it has been done by me! My welding is not worth mentioning, so i had a friend make the pipe work and fabrication!

Yeah i agree its not a good car, but its cheap, loads of fun and annoys people once they find out its a 1.3! I bought it when i was 18, spent too much time, money on it, although it has alot of faults, it does hold some sentimental value! I try not to take it too seriously, just to have fun and chuck around a track!

So, to change your oil filter... you have to get the front bumper out?
Nice little weapon!!

yeh, but luckly its only held on by 3 bolts! Quality jap engineering! To strip it down proper you would have to, well its a lot easier to whip bumper off than struggle to gain access to certain clips etc
