I've just returned from a nice holiday in Turkey (I sent you some nice weather over - hope you like it)
Anyway...whilst there I coulden't help but notice all the fakes on display. I make the mistake of showing interest in one chaps shop and he showed me his collection of fake Rolexssez.
I was actually quite impressed at the quality of them, and if you ignore the fact that they're a fake big brand, they're really quite nice watches.
Some of them were obviously horrid jewel encrusted bling nastiness, and would be just as horrid if they were real and cost many thousands of pounds.
But one in particular was a nice understated affair in silver. I've no idea what model Rolex it was as I'm not a watch fan - but I liked it.
I would have bought it had it not been for the huge 80 euro price tag (and no come back if it broke).
It was an 'automatic' watch with a simple black face and date display under a raised magnifying glass bit. The second hand was an almost perfect judder free 'sweep'.

Where can I buy one of these 'automatic' watches on the cheap? I'm not after a fake per se...I don't care who it's made by, but I just like the non-ticking second hand. I also don't want to spend silly money on one as I have a habit of scratching and generally abusing watches!

If you are looking at around 80 euro, Seiko 5 diver all the way. Or Werners, or Ollech & Wajs.

If you want to spend a little more, look at a Seiko Alpinist...they're lovely little watches.

What they said. If you want something slightly different, try looking at Werners.

I still don't get why they don't just produce normal automatics with their own brand tbh. It can still be a front for the drugs and terrorist organisation if they really want it to be but with a little work on their brand image they could become the new Seiko or Citizen. I mean a few years ago, people probably regarded Japanese products as being cheap tat.

I bought an automatic fake IWC once (still have it lying around somewhere) whilst I was living in China. It looked nice, I wanted a IWC (still do) but could not afford it (still can't) plus living in China means you own so much fake crap anyway, I didn't see the harm.

It's now 5 years old. The reserve is 3 days. It loses 2 minutes per day. And it still works. The armband is nasty, but overall, I'm impressed. (wear it maybe a few times a year)

Cost? 6 pounds. And I probably still got ripped off. I don't know how they managed it, but they did.
