Skype on a Nokia N95
Discussion
AFAIK, you can't get Skype on your Nokia.
Your Nokia runs symbian, not windows - so slightly different. (well, very different.)
I tried it on my old N95 and never found a way to use Skype over my WiFi or any hotspots.
Unless of course, I purchased some credits - which defies the point of skype (imo.)
Take the iPhone for example - Skype raved how they had secured an application for it - yet payments remain required (for UK users.) I believe it was taken away in the states due to AT&T getting quite angry (and rightly so,) about their customers making phone calls, on their phones, without paying them.
HTH ?

Skype is available on the N95 last time I looked. As the N95 has a built in SIP stack for VOIP, I just used that instead and didn't bother with skypes propitiatory way of doing it.Your Nokia runs symbian, not windows - so slightly different. (well, very different.)

My thinking is, my phone will connect to the net, it will also do vid calls, therefore I put the app on my phone, I connect up and get free skype to skype on my phone. Non?
What you said above that though, is there any chance of a duffer like me pulling that SIP stunt? Im no techno wiz.
Skype to skype should be 'free'. Skype to non-skype (breakout to PSTN) will cost.
Not sure if the skype app can use the video camera on the phone for video calls - I have an iPhone these days and a facing camera is one of the many things that it misses.
The sip stuff is pretty trivial to set up, but you'll need a SIP server somewhere to connect to, and that will cost money for the PSTN breakout so we're back where we started...

Why not try "Fring" I used this on my N81 and it does more than just Skype it is free.
Thanks for all the replys chaps.Ive now added Fring and will try that once I retrieve my Skype login details.
Can fring video call? The video call is important as I have a lot of family overseas.

About 3 days after this post, my phone royally st itself. It started to cough a bit pretty much straight away (I thought nothing of it as it has "hiccupped" before and then ben fine). Then I had reason to take the battery out and when I turned it back on, drama. When I start it up now, the screen flickers with a myriad of stuff but underneath it all is a big Fring logo and the phone is completely unuseable. So Im deeply suspicious that the Fring shagged it.
