Looking to spend around £250.

Main usage going to be surfing the net, downloading *stuff* and thats about it to be honest - maybe the occasional use of the Office suite, but nothing hardcore.

I dont want a netbook as the screens are too small and they are generally too fiddly - but im not put off by ex demo or damaged boxes if it gets me a betetr deal...

Any recommendations? I'm technoincompetent.

TIA thumbup

For £250 you would be better with open box, grade "B" blah blah. Try over at Europc as they do some good stuff. If you see something you like its sometimes better to phone to get the proper condition of the laptop as some can be more scratched/aged than it may have room to describe.

Apparentyly the PC world one is dual core also

"As you would expect from this leading brand, the G60-118EM is efficient and reliable, offering first class Intel Pentium Dual Core Processor T3200 technology"

T3200

T5670

T5670 might be slower GHz, but is a Core2
and has faster bus speed and larger L2 cache

Intel have released a new Pentium, no relation to the old one. Its quite good by all accounts, for a cheap PC anyway.

You might be surprised by netbooks, i got used to the screen keyboard very quickly.

I use mine for email/t'interweb/itunes and that's about it. It's perfect for that.

Ebay is nobodys friend. I know three people who have recently had problems both buying and selling stuff on there.
