I'm on the hunt for an N rated wireless access point and can't work out why they are more expensive than an N rated wireless router. Take items 3 and 4 on this page: http://www.digidave.co.uk/jshop/section.php?xSec=7...

So is there a router I can get that will act as an access point, or one that I reflash the firmware on.

one reason = production volumes

routers are sold in thousands more than APs

to turn a router into an AP you just need to switch off the firewall and DHCP server....thats about it, so go for it
