What do you guys use as a baste when bbqing ?

Not being rude, but aren't there a substantial number of very recent BBQ threads? I'd put money on there being some very good BBQ basting advice in one of these threads. Good luck!

Not too many specifically about basting if I recall. This may be more of a US thing...

shout Papoo!

However, if you're BBQing the English way, for heavens' sake don't pour any leftover marinade onto meat while it's grilling. It does nothing for the flavour and risks food poisoning.

that's a bit of a sweeping statement, and not necessarily true IMO

Good advice I would have thought, if not necessarily applicable in every case. I certainly wouldn't be using sauce I'd marinated raw chicken in as a dipping sauce...

no, but he did did say not to pour it onto the meat "whilst its grilling" - which is pretty different to using it as a dipping sauce.
