Disc Burning

I've had a few problems sending DVDs to people burned using Vista and them not being able to open them. Can anyone recommend any burning software, preferably cheap, I've tried Nero and that works but £45 seems extreme as I don't need anything but the ability to burn files to a disc to be read on other computers and Nero comes bundled with all manor of stuff
