Hi All - early days with the Mac so please bear with me...

I'm trying to set up Mac Mail with a Yahoo account using POP.

I've set up to receive email from Yahoo, but I want to keep the emails on Yahoo until I delete them from Mail, after which I want them deleted from Yahoo.

Now in MS Outlook, I would simply go to the account's advanced Tab and check "leave copy of message on server", and check the sub option "delete from server when deleted from 'Deleted Items Folder'" Then when I delete from Outlok and empty the deleted items folder, they also get deleted from my POP account.

i cant find any way of doing this on Mac Mail. Hope you can help.

Thanks in advance

I believe you need to use IMAP rather than POP to be able to do this. I'm not sure if yahoo supports it, hotmail doesn't. I had to use my gmail account.

That doesnt really do what I need it to...

I like to keep messages in my Yahoo mail until I delete them from my laptop - at which point I also want to remove them from the Yahoo mail server. Easy to do in Outlook.

Preferences in Mail only allows deletion if I 'move' the mail from Inbox (not the same as delete!) or after a certain period of time....

I think that is all there is. Once it's gone from your inbox Mail doesn't keep track which account it belonged to, from a syncing point of view.
