Can anyone help me find a legal person who can help me......

I have a problem with a company move to another country that has gone badly. I think i have good grounds to take the company to court but i need a lawyer or solicitor who can work in international employment law......

Can anyone point me in the right direction or reccomend a company?

Cheers,

More information required. How do you know that a solicitor based in England and Wales is the right jurisdiction? Assuming that you take that view, of course. Do you have a Written Agreement? Is it a verbal contract that has been broken? Has the change been due to external factors, such as loss of business, world recession, or that dreaded phrase, the "credit crunch"? etc

Which company entity, and under which country is your current employment contract signed under. It will be stated in your contract?

Without sounding facetious, don't you live in Italy? and if not, then I assume back to Holland, no? The joy of jurisdictional issues. I'm not trying to be difficult, just trying to save you some time and effort in heading in the right direction!

Bloody hell. And I used to think 45 minutes on the train was a bit of a grind!

Chances are that English law isn't goign to apply to your contract of employment and so you would need to bring any grievance in either the Dutch of Italian courts.

That's what RB is driving at, and he's entirely right to do so. No point spending money on a solicitor over here only be told that s/he can't advise you because Dutch or Italian law governs the contract and/or any dispute has to be brought in the courts over there.

EDIT: As regards your thread title, a solicitor IS a lawyer wink

But a lawyer isn't necessarily a solicitor! A lawyer just means someone who acts for clients in legal matters. Being a solicitor is a particular qualification within the law.
