Business models for the newly self employed
Discussion
My sister currently works for a large firm advising clients in her area. The parent company are thinking of moving out of her area of business, and she a group of others (same role in other geographical areas) are looking at going thier own way. At the moment they're thinking of all forming thier own limited companies, working independantly, but using each other for informal cover if one is away, etc. They did consider forming an LLP but the team leader who was going to sort it now has an involvement in another company and so would prefer to keep the advisory work as seperate business (I'm not too familiar with LLP and why this would be a problem though).
Groups of consultants like this must be a fairly common setup, are there any business setups that leave the individuals to run thier own work, but allow more formal way of them working together, and possibly reduce duplicated costs?
I'm a limited compnay so reasonably familiar with how that works, but don't know a lot about other methods.
