I'll try to keep this short as it's a long boring story....

I've bought a new (unlocked) mobile which needs internet access for its applications.
My existing SIM does not have internet access enabled.
I want to keep my current mobile number.

My existing PAYG SIM came with a second-hand phone which I bought from an ex-colleague 5+ years ago. I no longer have contact with him.

Orange Customer Services are telling me that there is no way they can upgrade the services on my SIM, or transfer my existing number to a new SIM, because I don't know a PIN that was apparently registered with the SIM when it was new.

Anyone know if that's right?

Any ideas how I might be able to use my new phone without changing my phone number?

Thanks.

The Ben

go into an orange shop, tell them you lost your sim! pre doing that, write the sim number down on a piece of paper(its the long number on the back of your card starting with 894412), then and take it to them. They will take the last 4 digits of your 'old sim' and upgrade you. As its its a 'lost' sim it will be free, unless you speak to a staff memeber who doesnt realise this they might just charge you a £5 but of credit, sim card still free.
