Hi all,

I have just been sent a £100 parking fine notice for a parking offence apparently committed on the 20th Dec.

It relates to on-road parking with a meter.

The strange thing is that I did pay for the time, but have since thrown away the ticket last weekend (assuming if it was a month then it wouldn't come back to me) and I never got a ticket on the car.

There is the obvious form to fill in and dispute it (which I'll do) and I've found that it can then go to arbitration so I'm not that worried about it, but it all seems very strange.

Anyone else have anything similar and what happened? Will they have to provide photographic evidence that the car was there with no ticket as it seems to be just a pure "our word against yours".

Thanks!

If they do, there is some chance it could be doctored; demand proof that the photograph is genuine and not doctored, citing recent example (see: www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=77900) - Streaky

Its not an agency in Sheffield is it? I got a similar thing £100 fine with a premium rate number to call. They sent a couple more threatening letters and then since I have heard nothing. I never pay such things as this is always lair liar pants on fire and they have no chance of winning. My advice is just ignore it, but then I am a risk taker by nature.

Now that gives me an idea for a scam, just make up an offical looking letter and ask for £100 for some obscure motoring offence. Its likely most people will pay up

Yeah this agency was employed by Stockport council or so they said. Mind you SMBC are a bunch of criminals anyway.
