They certainly say they offer an alternative to the other two but what would a UK run by the Lib Dems actually be like?

I agree with some of their thinking yet I'm left stone cold sober by other things they have to say, yet I find myself drawn to them more than Lab/Con.

Truth is I don't really trust either Labour or Conservative to fix the country and UKIP just don't really do it for me at all.

I'd like to see them get in just to see the disappointment on peoples faces when they don't repeal prohibition of drugs. I know they say they will, but let's be honest, that's never going to happen.

i think they would be more shocked than anybody else.

For years now they have been going through the motions knowing full well that they will never have to govern. I think one or two MPs aside most of them would be crapping themselves at the thought of actually running the country.

Also, scrapping trident, joining the Euro zone and an amnesty for illegal immigrants?

I'm really not sure.

I doubt people have looked in detail at their economic proposals, which are basically to the left of Labour.

They will more than double capital gains tax, by taxing it at the same rate as income. Which has some logic if we are talking of indexed gains, not if they are taxing the illusionary profits of inflation at 50%.

They also plan to drive investment banking out of the city of london by applying an additional 10% of tax on banking profits.

and let us not forget (on a motoring website) that they as anti-car as ever and one of the cuts they plan to make is £3bn off the already small roads budget.

they'd screw us.

they were IIRC MK's 1st non-hung council. and they messed the place up. bigtime. council tax has gone up loads, bus lanes everywhere, 40mph on gridroads, axing the rest of the grid system, if they cant look after a 35 yr old "city" how will they cope with the UK?

Lib Dems seem to be 75% labour and 25% greens - what a combination!

More like 50% labour, 35% green and 15% assorted lunatics. Bit like labour, but they have a larger proportion of loons and labour.

Never thought I'd say this, but if it came to it, I would rather Labour stay in power than the Lib Dems win. You think the UK is full of pro Euro, PC b0ll0cks now, imagine how it will be when run by a bunch of sandal wearing, Guardian reading, car hating, soft on crime, open borders hippies.

I was being kind... hehe

Scary thought though, if people are taken in by 90 minutes of saying slightly less spin than the other two....

Personally, my council tax would go up, I would be taxed through the nose for my cars and I dare say that there would be further measures to make motoring as awful as possible to force us all onto public transport. The Lib Dems are my third least wanted party, beaten only by the Greens and the racists.

Anyone has got to better than Labour. They have been in too long, have gotten corrupt and useless, on top of that most of the inner circle seems to be some of the nastiest, cynical, ruthlessly ambitious people going.

No, the LibDems are not Liberal or Democratic, in views or policies.
Then, words, what do they mean?

Last I remember the Libs where going to reduce council tax to zero, but replace it with local income tax, which could depending on how it is implemented be a better method.

Wasn't £1.5K road tax suggested by them?

I've got an even better method - divide the charge up equally between all the people in the community. Just needs a name...

Yet more income tax - they can stuff that one.
