An uninsured driver has had his £90,000 Ferrari seized by police.
The 40-year-old motorist was given a £60 fixed penalty notice, six points on his licence, and faces a £200 fine.
But if he fails to produce valid insurance documents within a set time, the Modena convertible could be auctioned off, with West Yorkshire Police retaining any proceeds, or it could even be destroyed.
Officers in the West Yorkshire ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) Intercept Team made 15 arrests and seized 17 cars, including the 190mph supercar, during the operation.
It was part of a continuing effort to target burglars travelling between Bradford and Leeds to commit crime focussing on Killinghall Road, Leeds Road and Barkerend Road, the A650 corridor and Holme Wood.

Why destroy it? I'd buy it for £500, replate it and everyone's happy.news said:

Assume the 40 year old made a mistake with his insurance company (number plate a digit out or private plate transfer etc.), if he can afford to run it he can probably insure it and pay the fine.
You assume far too much. Most cannot afford to run them that get taken.
One chap had leases them through a business, stopped paying it all and kept driving them. Had a porsche, ferrari and roller off him.

I guess I do too - I assumed that the driver might not have a license and therefore no insurance.... Still, it never ceases to amaze me that people think they can get away with this sort of thing - especially in something so subtle as a 360.

How stupid is that? Selling it at a police auction, and putting the money towards policing seems a lot more constructive.musclecarmad said:
Any car in Bradford over a value of £40,000 should be stopped.
The owner should prove he has a licence, insurance, a right to be in the country and should also be able to prove just EXACTLY how he bought the car.
I would imagine the main difficulty in Bradford is establishing the driver's true identity. The owner should prove he has a licence, insurance, a right to be in the country and should also be able to prove just EXACTLY how he bought the car.
