Ok may be that the guy at the BMW dealership wanted my money sooner rather than later but when talking yesterday about the 1000RR it was said they price of the bike would most probably be going up next year. Won't be looking at changing to the BMW until next March. Have to save and such like

Thoughts on the price hike? anyone heard anything or just the dealer trying to sell sooner rather than later??

But compared to when prices were set - still way down isn't it?

Bike released in recession... inflation rising.

I don't see why the price would not increase.

Every other consumer product does.

Nope - well up - around 10 - 15% higher than end of last year, start of this year.

I Don't know when the last price was set, but it's the highest it's been since around Dec 2008.

going back to the original post, the dealer has said:

"the price of the bike would most probably be going up next year"

That's probably true. You'd expect them to adjust the prices at least every year to reflect inflation etc

Oh, and VAT is highly likely to go up too. Does that affect new bikes/cars?

As from the 1st June the basic bike went up £300, Sport package £50 and Motorsport colours £50. Another increase is due latter in the year dont know when or what the expect rise will be.

It's not a true BMW if it doesn't cost at least a few grand more than the competition for no apparent reason.

LOL he's a bike salesman.. whats his primary goal?
I merely expressed an interest in test riding (was put off as they wanted to charge me money for test ride insurance - no other dealer does this from my personal experience) and was getting repeated phone calls back keep telling me demand was high and to get in quick with my order etc etc. Yer right I could walk in tomorrow and order one just fine.

ALL BMW bikes have just had a price increase as of the 1st of june, on average around £400 - £500, the cost of the S1000RR sport is £12850 OTR if you then want it in motorsport colours add another £450,

i hope this helps

And availability is a issue,I havnt got any un-sold bikes till august....

The Motrad dealer I talked to said he was alloted 44 S100RR's for the year and reckoned he could sell twice that but couldn't raise his allocation.

Never really sure how much to believe when talking to dealers, but considering I called his bluff by walking away if my cash in hand didn't shorten the waiting list, I would say ......possibly.
