Metz tyre wear?

Just noticed the side of my Metz tyre is blistering off 
OK I might give it a bit of stick on the corners and it has done 4K but its an ME660 260/18 that has not seen track use.
Is this common for a Metzeler? I have never worn out a side wall with loads of tread in the centre on a rear tyre before.
