hi, my mate is looking at this on ebay and likes the looks, but can't find much about them. I understand they are chinese made, but are they a good first bike..

In all fairness, they're chinese, they're cheap & cheap for a reason.
The whole bike is basically made of cheese.
It says £600, if he's after that style bike, why not try a Kawasaki Eliminator?
Exactly the same sort of style, but a better known make & will probably cost about 800-1200 for a second hand one.

If he wants cheap, go and buy it. I often see a couple at Devils bridge with one of these each. I wandered over and had a chat with them about the bikes as I wasn't sure what they were.

They bought them both cheap and ended up customising them as they corroded a bit and started to look tatty.

If your mate goes in with his eyes open, he may get a good deal.

Just remember that they rust badly if you even point them in the direction of rain...

thanks for the points, I have told him to look for something that feels right, both buying from and the look of the bike..but as he hasn't got a license yet it would be difficult for him to test it.

I knew it was a Chinese when the guy selling it said it had a 'honda' engine..
