diamond advice.
Discussion
Ok, I'm on a limited budget first and foremost.
I have the opportunity to buy a used ring bought from beaverbrooks at silly money.
I'm uninterested in the ring as it stands for obvious reasons but am happy to have it melted down for a new ring to be made and the existing diamond used.
It's a GIA certified .57 Brilliant, G in colour and SI1 grade. It's pretty well known that GIA are very strict so it's likely to be a good stone.
The band is a large platinum band.
Cost is £750. Plus the charge of having the new ring made.
Is it worth it (before I part with any cash..)? Could I get a GIA cert'd diamond of that size set in a plat band for say a total of £1200?
Nighthawk or Lord S?

I'm no expert, but I suspect you'd get a better deal/ring/stone from a local independnet jewller rather than a high street outfit like Beaverbrook. Unless they are giving you a very, very good deal. I have the opportunity to buy a used ring bought from beaverbrooks at silly money.

Have a look on Whiteflash for their stock of loose diamonds. They have a good search/filter system, so you should be able to get an idea of what the diamond would cost new.

Me too, for an engagement ring. The only problem being, that the "wedding ring also has to have diamonds or it'll be overshadowed by the engagement ring". My Breitling is getting further and further away.
I feel I should qualify that
Not only were the earrings superb but also Whiteflash customer service was excellent, that alone will have me going back to them
Yeah I know what you mean, I feel I may have set the bar quite high
Dammit!!
I'll explain a bit better.
This style ring is up for sale at Beaverbrooks for £3250 or thereabouts. This is a pre-loved ring being offered to me for £750.
I'm 99% sure you wouldn't get a GIA certified diamond plus the weight of the plat for £750 anywhere.
It's that I'm looking for reassurance on really. Thanks for the help so far lads.
