My team get about 1000 e mails a month and they are meant to reply to e mails with a set period of time. I want to monitor if they are responding to these withiut asking them to be 'honest'. I really want this to be automatic, or as fuss free as I can get it.

Can this be done through outlook or do I have to get a new application?

Xobni measures all that sort of stuff at the client end.

Don't know if there's a central way of monitoring the same data...

It is in house but we are contracting for a large company, so asking anything to be done to the server is out of the question

We use a dedicated bit of software at work , it is similar to a phone queueing system , it allocate emails one at a time and gives average time to handle , longest in queue , volume etc . It's a 'mitel' branded program , don't believe it's wildly expensive

It's a CRM type feature. With the right kit and apps you can monitor everything they do but any basic system should be able to queue emails and provide management reports on response times, and also deliver stats all the way through the cycle to conversion (or resolution). How deep are your pockets?

You can pull exchange info into MS Access (and then into excel) including received/replied time

Yep, xobni does something like it per client:

I use Xobni to do just this very task.

Rather good little package.

If you dont' know what it is, it's a 3rd-party add-in for Outlook which works a bit like Outlook Extras. Gives you conversations with the person you received the email from, files exchanged, data on the stuff the OP wants, that sort of thing.
