wtf is the world coming to?

If he's tried to top himself, so what if some kind inmate tried to help him?

If i was a prison officer and happened to look into his cell and he was about to do something nasty to himself, I would quietly leave him to it and go for a cuppa, returning in around 30 minutes.

Is that wrong? Seems an easy way to solve the problem....or is it a case he kicks up such a fuss because it is just attention seeking, not really having the balls to do it?

Who stopped him topping himself? grr.

Everyone dies. Let him rot in prison.

Is there any way they can stop him from getting the money? Seizing it as a proceed( right word?) of crime or such? He would be sickened, which would be nice.

He can't spend it easily, and I'd imagine the parents of the children will be talking to their lawyers any time soon.

If he wins we should pay him in prison currency, cigarettes.

Which brand are the most carcinogenic?

Can't they stick him in with Charles Bronson?

Britain today... didn't used to be like this. (Huntley should have been swinging from a length of rope, and this discussion wouldn't be taking place).

Like the prisoner who sued and got just over 40k because he'd suffered with toothache and didn't get treatment under his 'yooman rites'.

Mad.

You know what, it's really the rest of us who are 'imprisoned', the so-called prisoners are enjoying a life that is probably better in some respects than ours.

If i get mugged today can I sue the Police under my 'yooman rites' for not protecting me?

Playing Devil's Advocate, whilst I have no sympathy for Huntley and think he deserves all he gets, and much more, given we don't have capital punishment doesn't the state have a duty of care to protect him whilst he's in custody?

I think it's 10 Pence Short but there's a chap on here who did some time following a driving accident - if this happened to him I'm sure you'd all agree that the state failed in its duty of care.

I'm having to double-check my wording as I don't want to come across as if I'm suggesting that what he's doing is at all right, but I'm not sure I want people afforded different legal rights whilst inside depending on their crime or public opinion of them.

I don't think it is so much a case of Huntley* after money. I think it is more about making the point to H.M. Prisons that they have to take their statutory responsibilities towards prisoners more seriously.

If you can't do the time, then don't commit the crime
