There's also one here so you can get details via email (bit better for the guarantee)for £3.95:www.mycarcheck.com
It also tells you if the car was stolen and recovered without a claim being made, which (as I understand it) isn't included in an HPI check.

YR02YNO, is the registration number

The least you could do is offer a tub of wax in return...YR02YNO, is the registration number
Thanks

https://www.mycarcheck.com/check/YR02YNO/
also if you visit http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/p/Car-Parts and stick the reg in it'll give you some basic details such as colour, gearbox, engine and model which can give you an idea of if the reg matches the car you're looking at.
also try
http://www.askmid.com/ownvehicle/
Which will tell you if the car is currently insured , private seller using it with no insurance would point to the seller being less than trustworthy in my opinion....
Who cares if its £3 or £20??
Fact is that if you spend a tenner getting it checked and it comes back as stolen you'll have saved the cost of your new car! this could be anything from £100 to £1,000,000
I would personally feel more comfortable spending a bit extra with AA or RAC or HPi themselves just for some kind of guarantee and a good reputation. Dont want to spend £1.50 on a check and be provided with false information and lose either way
