Best backup software

...preferably free!

I need to backup data files from my laptop to an external hard drive regularly, but not on a schedule. The data will be pictures, documents, music etc so I'm not worried about system files.

Did I mention I'd like a free one? (But if there's a good paid-for one I'll go for it).

Doh! Sorry, Vista Home. I know it's got it's own built-in backup utility but my files aren't in My Pictures etc.

I use SyncBack, two profiles, both set to hourly. It's enough for that sort of data.

They don't have to be. You can set it to back up from any drive/folder. It's also free.
