Before I kill myself, can anyone help me with the following:

I'm trying to configure my Mac mail (v. 4.2, if it matters) to receive my BT webmail emails.

I KNOW the password I use to access the webmail is correct, but Mac mail just keeps on telling me that it's incorrect.

When I go an log onto my mail via the internet, there aren't any issues, so WHY won't Mac mail recognise it?

Is there any difference at all between a btyahoo email address and a btconnect one? (All the help topics on the BT website keep referring to BT Yahoo email).

Assuming you've got the correct POP and SMTP server addresses, password and email address you could try setting up the account manually rather than letting Mail try and figure it out. Mail>Preferences>Accounts - click on the + sign to add an account and at the first screen insert your full email address and password and then hold down the 'option/alt' key and click on 'continue'. From here you can input what you know is the correct info yourself.
If you've already tried to create an account I think it would be a good idea to delete it first so you're starting afresh.
Edited to add: On the incoming server, where you add your user name you could try it first with just the bit of your email address before the @ symbol. If that doesn't work, try it with the full email address. I've got three different email addresses and two work with just the short bit and one works with the full email address.

Make sure your also logged off from any other computers.

when its tells you "wrong " etc just bash on and see if it works. I was getting "incorrect" all the time with my Yahoo account, then i just entered what i knew was right and pressed "continue"

good luck
