Best wireless router for Virgin Media?

I've just tried to get one from Virgin Media FOC but they won't unless I upgrade from L to XL which would tie me for another 12 months. A bit strange even though I've been with them for nearly 6 years.

Anyway, should I want to buy one what would people recommend? I have a iBook and looking to replace it with an iMac but also thinking about an iPad Wi-Fi aswell.

Why not stick with Apple? If you don't want anything fancy or a wired router, just wireless, get an Airport Express. Or an Airport Extreme or if you have spare ££ why not look at a Time Capsule, this will give you a back up facility for all your Macs.

My girlfriend got a free one by upgrading, paying one month's subscription to XL, then downgrading again.

Thanks guys Will look into the AirPort - probably the easiest sticking to Apple. I will be thinking about upgrading the speed eventually for gaming so get a new router from Virgin Media then. Will remember the upgrade for 1 month then downgrade trick too.
