You have to wonder at the mentality of some car producers. I mean why, just why?

Don't forget the added crash protection... you are carrying around your own tyre wall after all.

The guy who designed it gave this as a reason why its a good idea:

What? If you have 100% more front tyre surface area with the smae amount of weight then you have more risk of aquaplaining.

If he can't understand this simplest of principles then he probably shouldn't be designing road cars.

1. Briefly.
2. Only to laugh.

Perhaps if you don't understand the simplest of principles, you shouldn't be commenting on it?

The front set of wheels clear the water to allow the second set to grip. Those fortunate enough to have a drive in a Panther 6 praised it's wet weather grip.
Except of course the orignal poster is in fact correct. Sure the first "set" of tyres will clear the water, but they will be "lifted" by the water also, which takes the downward load off the "second" set of tyres, so the total lateral or longitudinal force that can be generated by the 6 wheel car is broadly the same as for a 4 wheel car!!

+1 for increased risk of aquaplaning with less load on each tyres

Six wheels? You have to include the 'Wolfrace Sonic'. I actually saw this driving down the A21 from Locksbottom to Bromley as a spotty teenager, I damn near dropped my chips...

Always wanted a P6 Panther when I saw it on TV years ago. Apparently only two were made, both sold to Arabs & apparently last thing I heard was a price of one million pounds !. Or the Aston Martin Lagonda with the black glass & digital dash) or one of the cars from Gerry Andersons UFO because they were all so cool & futuristic !! & just noticed the Pink Panther Car which had a weird door opening operation & I was always so frustrated because I always wanted to see a) the inside close up & b) the drivers view (always imagined superfuturistic dash) !!

Considering that super cars are meant for the inner 12 year old

Who wouldn't want a 6 wheeled car
