I'm getting married in May and can't be arsed hiring some typical oversized suit.

Does anyone know where I can get a decent suit made that doesn't cost the earth, 100 miles in any direction from Sheffield/Doncaster?

And how much typically?

You could try a very nice Gieves and Hawkes or a Paul Smith from the York Outlet centre and pay a good tailor to perfect it...

£300-£350 for a suit that will last you 7-10 yrs and not date if you get a classic cut.

£6-800 for a decent made-to-measure suit, on a par price-wise with an off-the-peg Armani, which you could then have suitably personally tailored if you"re not too oddly proportioned. Truly bespoke nearer £2k. Which in turn equates to an off-the-peg Brioni etc...

Try Austin Reed, branches everywhere. Bottom two tiers of their MTM offerings get made in Eastern Europe somewhere, "Cardinal" and upwards grade cloths are put together in Goole and come with a lovely little "Made in England" label for what it's worth.

Are you an abnormal shape..?
Can you fit off the peg..?

All towns and cities have tailors, who are more than capable of cutting and making a suit..

Similar to a Restaurant - good ingredients and a trained experienced chef to match will provide great food.

An established tailor who cuts, makes and stiches their own will cost you loads of money.
There will also be one who can take a good suit and cut/stitch it to your shape - it will cost you less.

If you just want a suit for the wedding day.. hire, buy off peg or buy off peg and adjust.
If you want a suit just for the wedding, A special one etc.. get one made. But be sure you don't intend on changing your body shape in the next few years.. An expensive suit - fitted to a trim figure will look crap on a portly chap.
