Strange things are afoot in Thames Valley. The local tax agency (TVSRP) have started placing these yellow signs on 'high risk' roads (ie A4, A4074, A404).

The A4 Maidenhead-Reading route is picked as one danger spot (99 'casualties' in 3 years - casualties are defined as 'road users injured').

Anyhow the signs on the A4 all say Take Extra Care apart from 2 - one which sensibly says 'beware turning traffic'. The other is stranger.

Approaching the A4/A321 roundabout it says 'watch your speed, 14 casualties in 3 years'. For a roundabout. With trees in the middle. In an NSL (60mph).

I've already written to TVSRP and asked how many accidents were caused by speed, and how many were above 60mph

Well done Thames Valley! Information not persecution! It's up to us peeps to show that better results can be had this way.
TVRSP! Just give us 12 months free of persecution to show you.

I saw a load of these when I was out on my Ride Drive session with Madcop last week. Trouble is they are a bit patronising and don't alert you to specific hazards.

You see it and note it when you drive past but then it's forgotten within 10 seconds. It'd be more useful to have signs along the route warning of specific hazards or blackspots.

They've been up for a cpl of months now - see loads on my route from Aylesbury to newbury every day...

And the 413 Aylesbury -> Silverstone has loads of them trying to depress you into not bothering to drive at all

All for safety but surely these things cost real money that could have been spent on extra BIB?

I have seen so many of these, that to be honest I have started to ignore them, on the A4 into Reading they mention X incidents in X years, what is an incident, maybe a cyclist fell off his bike ?

As I wrote in my original post - the casualties are actually 'road users injured'.

Could be someone stung by a bee in a convertible

Just more road-side clutter for the driver to take in rather than make his own decisions about the road. To be honest like most people, having seen how thay manipulat statictics I am totally cynical about these new signs. Absolute load of bollox is you ask me! Rich...

I do find these signs quite amusing. For one the take you attention away from the road as you look up to read them. Also they are big metal poles for you to wrap your car and bike around and surely make the road mroe dangerous.
I am also very sceptical about the figures.
