Would a car club company such as P1 work for bikes? It’s arguable whether the business model works for cars (seems a bumpy ride!).

Do the lower purchase/ running costs of bikes mean club fees could be lower so more people would be interested; or that more people can afford their dream bikes without needing to be in a club?

Is the pleasure of biking more/less about ownership than with cars?

Is there a P1 Bikes equivalent?

Hi, I couldn't help but respond to your question.

Yes Spyderclub is an equivalent for bikes to the likes of P1. I have been a member for 1 year having looked at buying a bike again as a toy. However, when you look at depreciation & servicing etc I decided to investigate Spyder Club having first seen them at the Goodwood FOS.

The cost of the lowest tier of membership wasn't actually much more than 1 years fully comp insurance on a decent superbike & yet all you do is ride the bikes and fuel them back up again before returning them - you don't even have to wash them!? They will also deliver the bike to where you want in the UK subject to T&Cs. Better still they also do organised UK/European trips and can also call on many top end manufacturers who they know so that you can try bikes beyond those in the ownership of the club i.e. Triumph, Moto Guzzi & Ducati. They also organise 'open days' where you can meet the members, try some of the bikes and understand how the club works.

Many of the members also have their own bikes/sports cars though want to ride the newest bikes available on the market ala the BMW superbike etc.

The club is very much about like minded people and they understandably want to make sure that they offer reliable top end bikes that run well so that you can maximise your membership/enjoyment.

I would definitely give them the thumbup
