I wondered what the consensus was on where pricing for Phantoms is going. I've driven a few and whilst I think its a great car, I could never get my head round the price. I know this may be sacrilege here as I usually make my contributions on the L/F/B part of PH but the cost of new Phantoms always seemed too high when compared to the super cars I had bought for similar money.

I still feel like it's an itch that needs scratching so was considering an early (04-06) car that someone else has taken the big hit on already.

Any thoughts on where you think prices might go?

I think the saloon is the right choice but I did see this coupe that looked good value.

anyone here live with a saloon as a drivers car? It seems the vast majority are chauffeur driven .

Thanks

For the life of me i cant see 180k in that car, i just cant.

I can just about, and i mean just see 100k in a 4 door 04 Phantom maybe, to scratch the itch, i suppose i just like Bentley more.

At up to £120K for a nice low mileage car I think they are a huge amount of car for the money.

I think you've hit it bang on mate - cheers. I've had a couple of Bentleys so it is the Phantom that's required to get it out of my system. I think an early Saloon for £100K is about right. There are a couple that have gone somewhere in the £90k,s but horrible colour ways.

I have one and drive it myself so can comment if you still need another view point, email me grainsley@btinternet.com.

As for values, they are what they are and people who cannot see £180,000 in a second hand one is just not ready for a Phantom or R-R prices. It is a lot of money, that's for sure but I actually wonder how they manage to build it for the price. They are very labour intensive and do not lend themselves to being built by robots. Look at the Mega Factories Rolls-Royce Film made by National Geographic and you will see what I mean. It is frightening to see what goes into designing and building a new model and then only selling a few each year. For the others who say, 'I prefer Bentleys' they are missing the point of the two cars which are so different. I am a Bentley fan too so I did the only sensible thing and bought both!

Lets face it, all new car values drop like a stone in the first few years but level out after 5 years or they do with Rolls-Royce. R-R keep the models current for far longer than other marques, which helpa. A £30,000 new Ford would not be worth much more that half in 5 years time and it is the same with the Phantom, £250,000 new [in 2003 and 4] and £125,000 for a good one in 2011. The 2003 Goodwood Phantom design still looks good and apart from a revised front bumper and grill height, is exactly the same as a 2011 model. Most older ones have not reduced in value much below £100,000 and really high mileage ones or less than perfect ones still fetch £80k. I know dealers would buy for less but they have to make a profit - poor things.

And remember since 2003 Goodwood have only built 802 RHD UK Phantoms to date, so they are quite a rare sight in England and most are in dull but fashionable Black, with black leather and black wood - God help us all!

In the short term, +1
Longer term, maybe a different story (certainly for the 2 door); I suspect that you are talking about a relatively short timescale though. However, I do agree that some of the earlier ones do offer a lot of car for the money.

At £160K and under 20K miles, that looks good value for a £300K+ car that's around 2 years(?) old.

I don't know about 2 years, its a 57 plate registered in early 2008. That makes it 3 1/2 years old.

Its probably still too expensive. its been for sale for months. It was first on at 190K and as every month goes by without a buyer, The price keeps coming down.

I would guess that once it gets to £140K, it will probably go.

I gotta ask, what makes you "ready" for a Phantom, just curious?

Your right they are what they are, but me not seeing 180k in one, how does that not make me ready, sorry for the late reply, i been away a couple weeks, and when i finished laughing at that, i just had to ask.
