Is it?

Something hit the rear screen of my 300CE a few months ago whilst driving in the outside lane of the M25. No idea what it was but it made a very loud crack when it hit. Upon inspection I found two cracks 200-300mm long running from the edge, where the chrome trim has some impact damage too. Car isn't worth a new screen I expect. Heating element still works fine and the cracks havn't got any worse even with the car exposed to regular frosts and covering 600 miles a week, so I'm loath to replace it.

A tester's opinion will probably be along shortly, but I would hazard that you might be alright. Windscreen cracks are, AFAIK, only a fail if they're in the driver's line of sight, and I put through a Mondeo that had had a deep four-inch crack in the very bottom of the windscreen, no problem. So I wouldn't think the rear screen will cause much issue? You don't even have to have a transparent rear screen..

Thats what I thought but couldn't find any specific reference to it online.

The rear screen is not a testable item, it might get an advisory.

Unlikely to fail .

My Fiesta rear screen got broken [how ?] 2 weeks ago on the day MOT

booked,i turned up and asked if it was okay to test like that, they said

no problem and even hoovered the majority of glass out for free.

Only thing is tester could refuse to test if car is full of broken glass shards
