Hi guys,

I do believe I know the answer but just checking... the result came back with:

.....
NXXXXK was applied to this vehicle on 17/08/2010
There are no interests recorded against NXXXXK
2YYO was applied to this vehicle on 22/04/2002
This VRM has been recorded as having an outstanding finance agreement
An outstanding finance agreement was recorded on 03/08/2010 against a (misc other vehicle)
NXXXXK was applied to this vehicle on 04/04/2002
There are no interests recorded against NXXXXK
......

Now my reading of this is that the reg 2YYO was on the car from 22/04/02 and was replaced by NXXXXK in august 2010. 2YYO is now recorded as being on the (misc other vehicle) and there is an outstanding finance agreement against it.

So am I right that the 'interest' is against that registration and other vehicle and actually has nothing to do with the vehicle I am looking at?

Thanks

Adam

You are probably correct, but I would get it confirmed if I were you. I had the same problem with my Alfa when I bought it last year. HPI check showed two outstanding finance deals confused. The dealer who was selling it sorted it out - one of the deals related to a plate that was no longer on the car - I think he managed to get a check using the VIN instead of the registration number.

The other agreement had been paid off, but the finance company hadn't bothered to tell the credit reference agency. I got written confirmation that they had no interest in the vehicle.

I was annoyed that I had paid for an HPI check and the results were wrong - not the first time this has happened.

What if the interest still exists on that other plate? As I understand it, the owner before the existing one traded it in for a new vehicle which I imagine he also took finance on. So it seems quite plausible that there is still a financial interest on that other plate - but it is on a different model of car...

I never quite understand why they list things relating to a plate that is not on your car, from when it was on another car.

Your car is fine as far as I can see, but no harm in calling HPi and getting them to confirm.
