A quick question that has been bugging me for the last week about hybrid cars and the ones with stop start.

How does having a Hybrid and stop start affect the use of air-con, as I always understood the air-con runs from an auxiliary belt on the engine?

If it is a case that the engine is running all the time that the a/c is running, then what's the point of a Hybrid?

The reason for thinking of this in the first place is that I'm thinking of replacing my current steed, but I'm never in the car without air-con switched on, but spend large amounts of time stuck in traffic.

Thanks.

In the BMW (stop start, not Hybrid) the A/C continues when the car stops, but clearly less efficiently - if after a period the temp varies to much from that selected, the car starts up again.

So I'm better off keeping the gas guzzler then, happy days!
