Engine mounts & exhaust mounts - change how often
Discussion
I never have though an exhaust fitter would probably change them. I had a custom made end-piece fabricated and they just used the existing exhaust hangers - no reason not to if they're in good nick and "bespoke" (ie expensive) items like on the Golf III. Rubber is fairly durable.
It wouldn't cross my mind to change engine mounts unless there was a problem.

its more preventative maintence I suppose. Clearly it depends on how good you want your car to be
i.e. Change your shocks & springs & bushes every 30k if your really after a tight steer.
Then how often to replace the wheel hubs...
Im not sure if its a case of going WAY over the top on the preventative side OR hold back change when its broken or worn.
I wonder if a real petrol head would change these parts much more often than ave joe?

Seems daft to replace parts like that unless they need doing.
Yes, you could replace your wheel bearings every 30k regardless but whats the point if they could last 80k with no problems. Not like they often just fail, they gradually die.
Stuff like a cam belt, yes. It's worth replacing as the first sign that it is on the way out is when it snaps and kills your engine.
Makes sense to replace some parts if you are doing a job related to them or if they need removing, however, some parts will still be usable even if they have been removed so seems silly.
Depends how much money you have I suppose.
