Car went for it's MOT last week, and included was "general service checks" consisting of fluid levels and tyre pressures.

So I went to change my tyre pressures to their high load setting, and instead of 33psi at the rear at 38psi at the front they were 32psi all around. I know that at the end of march they were correct, so the garage have clearly adjusted my tyre pressures to 32psi! bds! Luckily I spotted it before they wore prematurely!

a decent 'general' tire pressure is 32.. They probably thought they were doing you a favour.

Wow, are you always like this when people try to do you a favour, even though they weren't correct?

So you had told them that you normally carry a bootload of bricks in the car, so required uncommonly high tyre pressures ?

Yes. Generally speaking, if you don't know you're doing it right, it's best not to. Like CPR.

yikes

What was it that gave it away, could you feel the tread blocks moving?

I hope the counseling you will no doubt need helps you get over this life changing event.

I'm not sure On that. If someone is collapsed. Not breathing and no pulse. Something is better than nothing.

Pffft! You're not the only one. I once collected my car after having a full set of new tyres and found they'd set the pressures at 34psi. On the Tuscan eek

On dropping the car off I'd told them 24psi. Took me about ten yards across their forecourt to realise something was wrong. It was like driving on ballbearings.

Maybe they noticed it and succumbed to the pressure - you know, just to vent. Probably didn't expect you to get your 'air off. Maybe they thought they were offering good valve for money... wink
