Speeding ticket from the Rep of Ireland

I received a ticket in the post following a trip to Ireland a couple of weeks ago, 80 Euro fine and 2 penalty points (according the notice).

I am English and live in England.

What happens if i pay the fine and give my details?
What happens if i do nothing?

Thanks for the replies, i think i'll go with the Decky Q compromise. Should hopefully do the trick. I wouldn't have been concerned had it been mainland Europe, but had a feeling there might be greater co-operation between the Irish and UK Govts on issues like this.
